I had a strong desire to taste the gourmet food a fusion of French,Cajun,Creole
& Khemar & booked the Georges rhumerie Restaurant much before
my arrival for a long visit to the temple town of Siem Reap & i was
not disappointed ! The Restaurant has a nice breezy outdoor seating with
a bar but i preferred to dine inside where i was warmly welcomed.The
room had a good ambience with with Xmas trees decorations much before
the advent of the festival.Stephen came & added some helpful suggestions to my choice of menu.My main reason for coming here was to drink my fave Rum & Stephen offerred me 14 different kinds of infused flavours from homemade coconut,coffee,.mango,passion fruit,lemon,pineapple,tamaind,cinnammon & my faves which i selected to drink the local Kafir & ginger rum.Great in every sense !
For starters i had cheese bread with six flavours followed by Dory with tomato sauce chicken with Cambodian pepper,tasty chutneys & sauces, all in big portions & tasty.I finished off my lovely evening with the dessert of caramel samosas over ricotta ice cream-delicious!The prices are fair & reasonable for the wonderful taste & ambience of the surroundings for which i would have paid double the price ! The best meal that i had in Cambodia !I will definitely visit this Restaurant for Stephen`s wonderful hospitabilty & innovotive delicious dishes !
In the meanwhile i spoke to Stephen & his family`s reunion island origins & how this has experimented with this Creole food & Rum to suit his Cambodian & international customers & he does definitely succeed marvellously ! Stephan is very friendly always going out of the way to please the customers & this attitude has seeped in to the staff who follow his example.He saw me off & when he found that my tuk tuk who was hired by me for the return also had gone off he offerred his own tuk tuk & when i got off at my destination the driver refused to take the fare inspite my best efforts !
